Signatus are exclusively retained by a new, innovative start-up company, based in Belfast, who are trailblazing into an exciting emerging market in EV infrastructure delivery.
We are recruiting a Head of Legal, Regulatory and Compliance solicitor to ultimately safeguard the company and their reputation by providing a legal advisory function to the Senior Management Team.
Your new remit
This is a key role for the Head of Legal, Regulatory and Compliance solicitor who will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the business, with particular attention to regulatory compliance and commercial contacts.
Some of your main responsibilities will be to:
- Give accurate and timely advice to the SMT regarding regulatory compliance matters, corporate finance issues, internal governance, employment laws, GDPR, commercial contracts, insurance liability and data protection etc.
- Track and review new laws and regulations that may impact the business
- Develop and recommend the implementation of policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance in areas required
- Draft and review non-commercial and commercial agreements, contracts, amendments and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights
- Provide oversight of commercial matters from a legal perspective.
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
- Research and evaluate different legal risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.
- Offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
- Collaborate with management to devise efficient legal strategies
- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization
- Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
What we need from you?
Qualified solicitor in NI, ROI, UK with at least 5 years PQE
Ideally some in house or secondment experience within a regulatory and compliance-based role
Along with Regulatory and compliance experience gained within either a commercial private practice or in house setting, you should also present with relevant experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Commercial contracts
- Corporate governance
- Company secretarial
- Data protection and privacy
